Installation Instructions
Step 1 - Prepare the Underside of the Vehicle
Begin by removing the necessary components from underneath the vehicle to access the fog light installation area. Using a 7mm socket, remove 24 screws securing the shield in place. Next, use a trim removal tool to remove the three push pins holding the shield. Once these fasteners are removed, slide the shield toward the rear of the vehicle to release it.
Step 2 - Remove the Side Corner Grilles
Behind the grille, use your hands to release the 10 retaining clips that secure the side corner grille in place. Apply outward pressure to each clip while simultaneously pulling the grille toward the rear of the vehicle. Repeat this process for both sides of the vehicle.
Step 3 - Assemble the Fog Light Bezels
With the grilles removed, it's time to assemble the fog lights and bezels.
-If using SS3 pods: Assemble the pods by placing the supplied locking nuts into the back of the pod with the nylon ring facing inward. Slide the Type A mounting bracket over the pod and secure it using a 5/32-inch Allen screw and washer. Then, secure the pod to the bezel using the four included screws and a Phillips head screwdriver.
-If using Elite Series lamps: Use the four included screws and a Phillips head screwdriver to secure the lamp to the bezel.
Repeat this process for both fog light assemblies.
Step 4 - Install the Assembled Fog Light Bezels
Back at the vehicle, place the assembled bezels into the original equipment (OE) position on the bumper. Press firmly to ensure all retaining clips are seated properly. Repeat this step for the second bezel.
Step 5 - Connect the Wiring Harness
In the engine bay, locate the fuse bus in front of the fuse box. Use a 10mm socket to loosen the positive connection and attach the positive lead from the fog light harness. Then, use an 8mm socket to attach the negative lead to the ground stud located on top of the strut tower.
Behind the passenger-side headlight, disconnect the OE harness and connect the fog light harness in line. Route the remaining harness behind the headlight, ensuring it is kept away from hot or moving parts.
Next, unplug the passenger-side side marker and connect the fog light harness in line with the OE harness. Attach the shorter DT output lead to the passenger-side fog lamp. Route the longer DT lead across the radiator subframe and connect it to the driver-side fog lamp.
Note: The included pigtails with the fog lights are not used for this installation. The vehicle-specific harness included in this kit directly replaces those connectors for a seamless plug-and-play setup.
Step 6 - Route and Connect the Fog Light Leads
Once the harness is fully connected, test the functionality of the fog lights. The amber backlight should activate with the parking lights, and the main beam should turn on when the low beams are engaged.
If adjustments are needed, use a Phillips head screwdriver to turn the adjustment screw and aim the fog lights properly.
Step 7 - Test and Finalize Installation
With everything functioning correctly, secure the solid-state relay and any loose wiring using zip ties. Ensure all components are routed away from hot or moving parts. Finally, reverse the steps used to disassemble the vehicle and reassemble everything, including reinstalling the shield and side corner grilles.
Step 8 - Aim Fog Lights
Following Diode Dynamics' Fog Light Aiming Instructions, aim the fog lights for optimized output.
The installation is now complete. Enjoy your LED Add-on Fog Light Kit for the 2024+ Ford Mustang!
