Ever since Toyota revealed the Trailhunter concept at the 2022 SEMA Show, overlanders and off-road enthusiasts have been anxiously awaiting a better look at the Overlanding-ready 2024 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter.
While exhibiting at Overland Expo West 2023 in Flagstaff, Arizona, our media team was able to capture our first look at the much anticipated 2024 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter. If you weren't able to make it, don't worry! Keep reading to get a first look at the 2024 Trailhunter.

2024 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter First Impression
The exterior of the impressive Tacoma Trailhunter is nearly impossible to ignore. From the high clearance front bumper to the ARB steel rear bumper, everything on this purpose-built rig looks ready to tackle any overlanding adventure.
The high-mounted air intake is one of the first upgrades to the 2024 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter that we noticed. It lets you know that this overlanding-ready Tacoma won't need to shy away from water.
The 2024 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter is also fitted with a sturdy modular sport bar, a durable roof rack, and your choice of a five or six-foot bed. These options guarantee that no matter where your overlanding adventures take you, this Trailhunter Tacoma is capable of bringing the gear that you will need.
LED Light Bar Ready
Notably, the new Tacoma Trailhunter is following the lead of the full-sized TRD Pro Tundra, with a grille-mounted led light bar that appears to be able to fit a 20-inch LED light bar beneath the bold "TOYOTA" lettering.
Just like the 2022+ Toyota Tundra, the lower grille on the 2024 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter is fitted with LED Fog Light Bars to help navigate through inclement weather or dusty off-road environments.
Altogether, the front end of the 2024 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter is ready to light the way for the overlanding crowd, and primed for more offroad LED lighting upgrades.
Trailhunter Reverse Lights
The sturdy ARB steel bumper on the rear of the 2024 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter features two eye-catching red tow hooks, but that's not the only appealing benefit we noticed. The flush-mounted reverse lights built into the bumper maintain the rugged lines of the Trailhunter trim level while boosting the light output for confident reversing.
The standard two-inch trailer hitch receiver will be essential for taking advantage of the 2024 Toyota Tacoma's towing features. It also provides the opportunity to add a HitchMount LED Pod Reverse Kit between towing adventures!
Distinctive Trailhunter Badging
The distinctive Trailhunter badging and the bronze-colored accents give this capable Tacoma offering a touch of class and sophistication. We couldn't help noticing it on the control arms around the coil-over shock absorbers.
With the upgraded suspension and oversized 33-inch off-roading tires, it's hard to imagine much will be able to reach the underbody of the 2024 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter. Nonetheless, Toyota completed the underside upfitting with frame-mounted rock rails and the Trailhunter-badged skid plate to protect the underside of the Tacoma Trailhunter from treacherous terrain.
Conclusion
The 2024 Toyota Tacoma Trailhunter certainly doesn't disappoint. Visually it's very appealing, but it delivers more than just good looks. With the iFORCE-MAX hybrid powertrain generating 326 HP and a mighty 465 lb.-ft of torque, it has the power to take you far off the beaten path, or confidently merge on the freeway.
